8ID supports the international women’s month



Camp Lukban, Catbalogan City, Samar – More than 300 men and women from the Army’s 8th Infantry Division joined the street parade held in Catbalogan City on Friday morning, March 4 in celebration of the 2011 World’s Women’s Month.

Contingents from the PNP, city and provincial government, civil society organizations, academe and NGOs also participated in the worthwhile undertaking dubbed as “Baktas Kita”.
No less than Major General Chan, Commander of the 8ID led his troops to show his full support to the activity that give importance to women especially in recognizing and respecting their rights as human being.

According to Major General Chan, joining the said endeavor is just one of the various activities of his command in line with the programs of the AFP’s Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) “Bayanihan”.

“This activity shows the collective and cooperative spirit of all members of the community which is one of the aims of IPSP “Bayanihan” in order to attain its ultimate objective of ‘Winning the Peace,’ says General Chan. “Hence, the 8ID will continue to participate in similar programs in the future,” he adds.####
